Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Patchouli is fairly short, only standing at about 5'4". Due to a general lack of exercise, she's very slightly on the plump side.

2. How old is she?
She's in her mid-late 120's.

3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
Most definitely slouching most of the time, due to spending most of her time hunched over reading.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Out of shape is an understatement. Patchouli was sickly ever since she was a child. She suffers from Anemia and Asthma.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Patchouli isn't very graceful, but she isn't a klutz, either. Her movements are generally fairly slow.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? If she actually put some effort into looking attractive, she would be fairly pretty. However, Patchouli doesn't care all that much about her appearance. No make-up for her.

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Patchouli is pale from a lack of sunlight and spending most of her time in dimly lit areas.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
Patchouli's violet hair is nearly waist length, and is actually quite soft. She generally wears it long, but there are times where she'll tie it up or have someone style it for her.

9. What color are her eyes?
Nearly the same shade of purple as her hair.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
She often has dark bags under her eyes from lack of sleep.

11. What are her chief tension centers?
Her neck and shoulders.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
Patchouli's wardrobe is generally meant for comfort. She has a variety of robes, all reminiscent of pajamas. She also has a multitude of different colored ribbons.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
As stated above, she dresses mainly for her own comfort.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
Yes. Patchouli doesn't view herself as having any free time.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Bloomers, although she may be just as likely to go commando sometimes.



Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Patchouli's voice is relatively soft, but has a tendency to be almost hoarse sometimes. I imagine she sounds much like this.

2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
Patchouli speaks softly, yet confidently. She generally only speaks if she has to.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Patchouli doesn't seem to have a single recognizable accent. However, if you listen to her for long periods of time, you may be able to pick out bits and pieces of accents from different areas.

4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
Patchouli is fluent and speaks in French, English, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, German, Russian, Latin, Mandarin, Korean, Italian, and an Arcane dialect used to cast her spells.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Yes. Mostly to catch spells, but she occasionally speaks in other languages to either communicate to those who understand them, or sometimes reading aloud to herself.

6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
Patchouli only speaks when she deems it necessary.

7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Most of the time, Patchouli is eloquent and sometimes cryptic. Most of her answers are only half-answers.



Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
Patchouli is extremely intelligent, although she thinks of things in a logical sense. She's definitely book-smart, as for street-smart - she's spent most of her life indoors reading, writing, and muttering spells.

2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
She prefers having time to think things through. She doesn't do all that well with spontaneous happenings, but she does her best to make do.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Patchouli is the logical type. Logic is far more powerful than emotional responses in her opinion. She's also very much of a realist. Instead of 'what-ifs', she focuses on what is.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Up until her teens, she received the best tutoring her parents could afford. After that, she self taught herself most everything she knows about magic through intensive reading and trial and error.

5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
Patchouli's expertise lies in magic, the history of magic, and how it affects the world as a whole. She also seeks to unravel the mysteries it holds, and discover the root of it all.

6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert, without a doubt.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Patchouli's usual mood is fairly...nondescript? Almost boring. However, when it comes to her magic, or her library being invaded, she becomes dead serious. There are very few things that make her mood lighten up.

8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Warily. Patchouli uses what time she can to analyze the new person or situation in order to come up with a proper response.

9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?
Very much react. Patchouli very rarely does anything spontaneously.

10. Which is her default: fight or flight?
Whichever the situation calls for.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Patchouli isn't all that big on humor. However, she does make sarcastic remarks from time to time.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?
No.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
Her discovery of magic and her transition from human to youkai.

14. What does she fear?
Death and losing everything she has.

15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
Patchouli's long term goal is to discover the root of magic and all things. She also seeks a way to cure her own ailments in the process.

16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
She tries to cover up exactly how ill she gets at times.



Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
Her parents are long since deceased. She respected them for raising her until she came into her own, but nothing more.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Patchouli had no siblings.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
If there were, they are long since gone. She wasn't close to anyone.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
Remilia Scarlet, her best friend. She practically views her as a sister.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Remilia. They met in France after Patchouli's transition into a youkai.

6. Does she have other close friends?
Not really?

7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
Patchouli makes no attempt to grow close to anyone.

8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
From a logical standpoint, family. They raise you.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
Single.

10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?
The closest thing she's had to a crush is on a certain rat that keeps disturbing her sanctum.

12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
She doesn't.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
Haha, no.

14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
Marisa is most definitely her rival, although it isn't a very aggressive rivalry.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?
While she doesn't particularly care about relationships, she'd rate at about a 4.

16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
Patchouli honestly doesn't feel it's important at all, save for procreation (not that she's ever going to have children), but she has urges that she generally has to take care of herself.

17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Intelligence is a bit of a turn-on. Her body is also quite sensitive, mainly her breasts. As for turn-offs? Lack of intelligence, and being rough.

She doesn't particularly have any weird habits, but her room is an organized mess with stacks of books everywhere.



Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?
Patchouli is a Virgo. If you read that, it's very, very fitting indeed.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?
Neither. They aren't at all important to her.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Patchouli has a fairly lax 'progress requires sacrifice' type of code going on. She's sacrificed much already. Her humanity, sleep, and most of her time. There's little that could compromise this.

4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
She respects it so long as it doesn't interfere with her work.

5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?
Patchouli doesn't really hold any prejudices.



Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Patchouli is rather wealthy.

2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?
Non-existent.

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
She lives in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, along with several others. She has her own private chambers, as well as the library. While the library is generally organized exactly how she likes it (until Marisa or Koakuma screw it up), her room is somewhat messy, but in an organized way.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?
Books, scrolls, and other ancient writings, as well as components for spells and alchemy.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
Patchouli is a wizard/magician. She's unbelievably good at it, as long as her health holds.

6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?
Patchouli occasionally reads up on folklore or what material she can obtain that's come from the outside world. That's about the extent of her hobbies.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Patchouli often doesn't eat too much. If she's particularly busy with something, it's common for her to skip meals, even if it isn't good for her.
